Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, most especially our friends and family. This is the first time we’ve had to spend a family holiday out on the road, and I just want to take this opportunity to thank our families for being so supportive. The life style we’ve chosen is often not so easy on those who love us the most, and we couldn’t do this without the support of our wives, girlfriends, families and friends.
So thank you, with all our love!
On another note, we just picked up with our new friends, Those Darlins, in Austin, Texas, at one of our favorite venues, The Mohawk. Still in Austin now - And I’m hoping to talk the rest of the band into abandoning Tgiving turkey for some BBQ beef ribs.
Well, I haven’t even been able to get online for a week, and it’s been a bit longer since we posted a blog. I know all our fans a checking in everyday to see… yeah right!
Anyway, just a couple days ago we ended our short run with the amazing Hillstomp from Portland, Oregon. We had the pleasure of being hosted by these dudes in their home town, which was a great time, and our few North West dates with them were only too few. Please check these guys out. We love them. And I mean that in a totally dirty way.
We’ve been loving the hell out of the West Coast. Seems like people are living the good life out here, and I think I want a piece. Never the less, we are looking forward to our journey back east, starting tomorrow with our show in Phoenix.
I dug this picture up off of Flickr:
We love playing in St. Louis, and are psyched to be returning to Off Broadway.
In a few short days we’ll be catching up with a new set of trouble-making tour mates, Those Darlins, in Austin, Texas. We got a chance to play with Those Darlins in their home town of Nashville, Tennessee, at the end of the summer, and this (almost) final leg of this U.S. tour promises to be legendary. Don’t fucking miss it. All right, it’s almost time for us to go on in San Diego…
I don’t want to go home!!!
And lo, O’death did come to cleveland, and there was much rejoicing.
This is a photo of the mighty Toad, accompanied by beady-eye Newman and drunken Bob. David and i stubbornly refuse to admit that thumb tattoos don’t stick, by getting new thumb tattoos. In related news, my thumbs hurt. Old friends took care of us in Bloomington and Chicago, but iowa city was i cant fucking concentrate, the goddamn TVs in the bar are blasting some cooking reality show and its mouth-wateringly infuriating.

We’re looking forward to our show in a couple of days in Salt lake City with My Brightest Diamond and Clare and The Reasons, both of whom we had the pleasure to meet in Gronigen last month at the Take Root Festival. Check these bands out, they are fellow New Yorkers and very talented - isn’t weird we can only play with other New Yorkers in places like Salt Lake and Groningen, Holland??
It’s the first Sunday of a new and relieved world. There’s no better and more exciting place to be than the great city of Chicago, Illinois. Our show last night at The Empty Bottle went swimmingly. Our new friends, Elliot Brood, kicked things off while supplying the initial energy with their catchy melodies, kickass dance beats and Canadian charm. Tonight’s our last show with them on this tour. If in the Chicago area, COME OUT! Our newer friends, Drakkar Sauna, have an energy and command that you won’t see in other duos. Their vocal harmonies give me goosebumps. I’m excited for our next few shows together, especially their home town of Lawrence, Kansas.
(Here’s Greg in Groningen, Netherlands, about one month ago.)
Before we went on last night, our old friend Benh Zeitlin (and associates) projected our low tide music video as well as his acclaimed short film, Glory at Sea. Tonight, this amazing film is opening the concert. Be sure not to miss it!
And finally, here is a video from our Popkomm performance at Postbahnhof am Ostbahnhof, posted by Nadine in Berlin.
Thanks for not fucking up this election.
Sincerely,
Bob & David
Fresh back from Canada, we just ended an excellent run with Hoots and Helmouth. These guys are rad - we only wish we could do more shows with them. They’re headed south from here, so if you live in West Virginia, Georgia, Florida, or South Carolina check their website and see if they’re coming near you.
Here’s a video from Johnny Brenda’s where we played with Hoots on Halloween; this is a performance of a song off our new record. It’s called, “On An Aching Sea.”
While still in Canada, we picked up with another band, Elliott Brood. We’re having a great time with them already, and will be on the road with them through the end of this week.
Round that time, we’ll be picking up our next tour partners, Drakar Sauna. Can’t wait to meet these guys. We’re so lucky to have to opportunity to play with so many great bands this time out.
And for our family and friends who’ve managed not to see it yet, once again, here is our new video for “Lowtide”, directed by our good friend, Benh Zeitlin.
If you happen to be a person who cares about quality, there’s a higher quality version posted up on our label’s website. You should check them out anyway: Kemado Records, because they release great records and they are awesome people who are quite concerned with bringing you the best music they can get their hands on.
Oh. And, you know, we don’t usually like to get political - as a band anyway - but we are certainly filled with great hope to see new leaders in our country. These are volatile times, my friends… Try to keep your heads above water,
