One of the most played songs in our van recently has been, “Next,” by Scott Walker from his album Scott 2.
Upon minimal research, I discovered this song was actually an English translation of the French song, “Au Suivant,” by the Belgian born singer/songwriter Jacques Brel. Scott Walker performed and recorded a number of Brel’s songs in the first few years after he dissolved his original band The Walker Brothers (the first time). Check out Brel, here with subtitles in Dutch, for our friends on the main land…

Elizabeth Cotten- “Freight Train”
Mostly known for her unusual guitar style of playing, its her voice here that actually blows me away. very pure, weathered and honest. this is obviously her ultimate tune.-Gregory
Here’s an awesome version:
Elizabeth Cotten - Freight Train
And here’s a version where Pete Seeger does the weird thing that he does.
